President's Message - October 2009

Open Houses have come and gone and now we have Halloween to look forward to. Please remember to be careful driving that night and make sure your children have flashlights and are not wearing masks that will interfere with their vision.

This year is just as important as ever to get out and vote. Please know who you are voting for: Board of Education, Board of Finance, and RTM members are all decision-makers on the school budget. PTAs and the League of Women Voters are hosting candidate forums. There will be four new Board of Education members who will be helping to choose a new Superintendent of Schools and will be on the front lines of the Education Budget and Curriculum. Find out who shares your views and get out and vote!

Now that we are in seasonal flu and the H1N1 flu this year it is important to remind our children the importance of hand washing and of not sneezing into their hands. The school system has provided hand sanitizers in all of the schools. Please do your part and help your children know how important it is for them to always follow these simple hygiene rules. In addition, please remember to have back up plans when you need to keep your children home with symptoms of flu. Let’s fight the flu together!

Best wishes for a safe and fun Halloween,

Charlotte & Mary
