Proposed Goals for 2009-2010

Goal #1: Promote communication between the Council, PTA units, families, Board of Education, administration, schools and community.

• Establish the communication policy of the Council that will set guidelines for information to be posted on the web site, and for communication and information provide on behalf of the Council. 
• Revitalize the Council web site to better communicate with parents and our community the work and accomplishments of the Council, and to serve as a valuable resource.
• Revive centralized calendar of programs to facilitate planning by all units and to avoid overlapping of events.
• Continue sharing of information regarding successful programs/events offered by PTA units.
• Actively endorse and communicate the goals, mission and objects of the National and CT State PTAs.

Goal #2: Identify and address inequities between schools at the same level.

• Encourage PTA units to provide the Council with information regarding issues of concern.
• Work with PTA units to identify inequities in facilities, technology and learning opportunities.
• Partner with the units to support and advocate for them.

Goal #3: Establish a Community Service Grant policy.

• Set guidelines that will help teachers and students seek grant funds made available through the Council’s grant programs.
• Encourage community service activities by our students, both within and outside of Fairfield’s borders, to broaden their sense of social responsibility.

Goal #4: Investigate extra-curricular facilities.

• Identify status of the Teen Center.
• Explore the possibility of a Handicap Accessible Playground.

Goal #5: Promote the health, nutrition and fitness of our students.

• Provide opportunities for educating parents and students regarding health and wellness issues.
• Facilitate the realization of objectives of the newly created Fuel for Learning Partnership.
